Bramber Bakehouse 1

In November, the Stellarmann team and Bramber Bakehouse management got together in person to discuss a new series of workshops that we are planning to run for graduates of their 8-week programme.

Bramber Bakehouse is an award-winning charity, supporting women who’ve experienced domestic abuse, exploitation or displacement. Their aim is to help rebuild their confidence, and teach skills and knowledge to enable a positive future. Their programme guides women as they learn technical baking skills alongside life skills, helping them progress to a full or part-time job, volunteering or education.

Stellarmann has previously given charitable grants and held fundraising events for the Bakehouse. These new workshops represent a deepening of our commitment to the inspirational work they do.

CV writing workshops

We are creating and facilitating a number of workshops starting with "How to write a CV" and followed by practical advice on preparing for job interviews. The pilot session will be held in December 2024.

Our volunteers learned about how to take a trauma-informed approach to the workshops, including how to gauge how participants are feeling on the day and techniques to avoid overwhelming them with information. Making sure women don’t feel stressed, anxious or disengaged is crucial to the success of the programme.

As an organisation that is well versed in presenting consultant’s profiles to clients, we know how to tell the story of the skills and achievements you’ve gained in your career. We were excited to work out how to apply this expertise to graduates of Bramber Bakehouse’s programme, stripping back to basics and focusing on how to present transferable skills such as ability to meet deadlines or follow complex instructions.

Next steps

We are developing examples of CVs and CV templates to give practical help to all the participants, and are looking forward to welcoming our first cohort. Stellarmann’s Danielle Leggatt commented:

“Our partnership with Bramber Bakehouse holds great significance for us. It’s an incredibly deserving cause, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with them. The team has been working on these workshops for several months, and we’re excited to be nearing the launch of the very first one!"
